    Description

Vintage Rex Fifth Avenue Compact with Gauze Powder Sifter (Celluloid?) 1930s
    Pre-Owned, Used
This lovely Vintage (1930s) Rex Fifth Avenue Compact appears to be made of Celluloid(?)  The cover image is the stock floral, pansies, design on an ivory background.  Overall it has yellowed with age, but is solid with no cracks or chips and with all four corner “pins” attached.
The mirror is intact and secure with no cracks or chips,
but the lower left corner has darkened.  The compact opens properly by depressing the button.
The hinges are also completely intact.
Inside, the original powder applicator/puff, gauze powder “sifter” and a fair amount of face powder (a light pink color) remain in the well.
The sides and bottom brass of the compact show some oxidation, consistent with its age.  I’ve made no attempt to clean either the outer surfaces or the mirror in order to retain its original patina, etc.
This compact measures 4" x 4" x 1/2" (10 cm x 10 cm x 1.5 cm).  It is still very usable and its overall condition is quite good - a lovely collectible!
I strive for as much accuracy as possible in the photos and descriptions of items.
