Description
Quaint trio from the 1930s - 1940s which make a great addition to any vintage or antique vanity compacts collection:1) Yardley of London compact - 2-1/2" x 2" silver tone case #180285A with classic Francis Wheatley "Cries of London" color scene on top. Case holds 3 compartments - 1 for loose powder, 1 with a pad and rouge plus mirror, and 1 fold out barrel tube with scarlet lipstick. Logo "Yardley of London" is in script on inner corner beside powder tray. Convenient design for checking/redoing makeup!
2) Kotler & Kopit or "K&K" compact - 5-1/4" x 3-1/4" gold tone compact with fancy cigarette holder compartment, a mirror, and a loose face powder tray with pad that has K&K logo on it, dated about 1940. The mirror covers the powder tray and flips up, as does the cover to the tray which protects it. Convenient way to get a smoke, powder your nose and check your makeup in the mirror!
Bonus is a 1-1/8" round Moonlight Cream Rouge tin named "Medium Scarlet Red" from near the same time period, made by Consolidated Royal Chemical of Chicago. "A brilliant beautifier for the cheeks that doesn't require renewals."
