Primitive Hooked Rug Chair Pads Mats Handmade Set of 4 Bluegrass Music Inspired

A set of four chair mats, hooked by hand using strips of nice quality wool fabrics worked into a sturdy cotton fabric backing. Much of my wool has been repurposed from beautiful vintage garments, used as-is or over-dyed to achieve color harmony and texture interest. These mats are all carefully finished off around their edges with hand-dyed, wool yarn and a handmade label applied to the reverse side.  Each mat is just under 15 inches (38 cm) across.
My fondness for the country craft of primitive rug hooking and for songs and images of bygone days were my inspiration for making these mats.  I spent many happy hours creating this project. There is harmony and variety in the color and movement surrounding these images of Bluegrass music instruments – the banjo, fiddle, guitar and mandolin.
These homey chair mats will be a charming decoration in a home that loves music and a reminder of folks in the past who used simple materials to create comfort and beauty in their homes.
