An exceptionally rare art nouveau late Ottoman Empire Champleve enameled cup and saucer with Islamic characters to the saucer. Boasting exquisite enamel in my decoration, this piece was almost certainly made by an Austrian Silversmith commissioned by the ottoman empire. Hence the attribution by both Christies and Sotheby’s of an Austrian origin for these. This one is in excellent condition with the original porcelain liner and a note of provenance indicating it was purchased in Istanbul in the 1920s. Buyer to pay .95 insured priority shipping within the US or 1 pound priority international.
