Description
Up for auction is a lot of 6 vintage powder compacts in varying condition.  Included is a LaMode, Tapestry, Deco Zipper, Geometric, Langlois and Unknown compact.  Information listed below:

Langlois double vanity
Blue painted double vanity with silver edging and the langlois bouquet in the center of the lid
Condition of this item is very poor
Compact does not have a closure mechanism
Paint and silver colored metal edging is in very poor condition
There are no puffs
There is some rouge left, but the contents has had a hunk of the rouge removed
There is no interior mirror
Dimensions of this compact are roughly 2 ¾ inches tall and 2 inches wide
Unknown Square Salmon Colored Powder Compact
Condition of the lid is fair--- salmon finish is pretty good, but there are small teeny scratches and a little damage on lower left side.  There is a gold colored metal ridge in the center, and there is a small mar below the center
Compact opens and closes fine
Interior is missing a mirror
There is no puff
There is a powder sifter
There is no marking on who made this compact, could be a Rex
Still would make a nice display compact as long as it is not opened
Dimensions of this powder compact are:  about 3” square
Vintage Tapestry / Petit Point Art Deco Powder Compact w Brass Edged Filligree
Lid is round and has a floral bouquet motif in the compact center.  You can look closely and see stitching.  Lid is edged in brass.
The base is a green colored plastic.  I don’t believe it is Bakelite.  What is interesting is the underside instead of being flat, has a point in the center—so it does not sit flat.
Condition of the lid and base is good considering its age.  The underside has a little wear and a few fleabites on the edge near the clasp
Lid opens with a slight tug
Interior mirror is glass with a few age spots and a little wear around the edging
Puff has been used and is more of a lamb wool than an actual store purchased puff—I am showing both sides
There is no signature on who made this compact
When the puff is removed, you can still see remnants of a powder sifter which is torn from age
Dimensions of this compact are:  about 2 5/8 inches wide by about 2 1/2 inches tall

Black Enamel La Mode Powder Compact Very Thin w Round Gold Colored Metal Insert
Up for auction is a black enamel La Mode powder compact that is very thin.  On the backside, there is a circular gold colored inset with some strange designs.
This is an extremely narrow compact
The lid is a black enamel whose finish is commiserate with its age.  That is there are a number of scratches on the compact, but nothing that slices thru the black.  Compact is edged in a silver colored metal
Compact is a little difficult to open.  There is a small tab, and I put my thumbnail underneath to open and pull it open
When compact is opened, I believe the mirror is metal.  There are several spots of rust on the mirror—see photo 3
The top of the powder puff is in good condition.  The underside of the compact appears to have been used and has 2 drk spots and has been used with some dark brown/pink powder
There is a metal area to slide the puff into and this also has the name of La Mode written in very small script
This compact would have loose powder.  Part of the bottom of the powder well slides around so you can access the powder
Underside of the compact is more rounded.  It has a beautiful circular gold inset that has some lettering I do not recognize.  The edges are black like the lid
Circumference of the compact is about 2 ¾ inches round
Vintage Art Deco Compact w Zipper Opening Marked Streamline on Zipper Unusual
Up for auction is a vintage Art Deco compact with a zipper opening that is marked streamline on the zipper tab.  The term streamline
was inspired by aerodynamic design.  Streamline architecture emphasized curving forms, long horizontal lines, and sometimes nautical elements.
I am selling a friends collection of compacts, and this is one of the compacts from her 30 year old collection!
This compact is a very unusual design
The top and underside are a light silver colored metal that has various green lines circling around the center of the compact at various distances, creating a modern design likely from the late 30’s are early 40’s.
Condition of the lid is pretty good other than several small dents to the compact, which would be commiserate with its age.  See pic 3
Condition of the underside is commiserate with its age, reflecting a myriad of scratches from use.  The design on the backside is more simplistic, with only 3 green lines on the edge of the backside
The shape of the compact is a D shape
The zipper opening that goes all around the compact works great
The zipper is marked Streamline
The interior mirror of the compact has a number of black spots (age marks on the silver) of the mirror
The powder puff does not appear to have been used, but the top of the puff has a few small dirt smudges
The underside of the powder puff is beautiful, and is a short cropped wool like material that was never used
The powder sifter is in great condition and never used
The powder well is made of a cream plastic colored material and is in excellent condition
The backside of the compact (which would normally be where the hinge is located is a leather like material that shows some wear – see photo 4
Dimensions of compact are:  3 5/8 inches wide by 3.25 inches by .5 inches high
Round Art Deco Compact w Blue Geometric Design on Lid Covered w Plastic
Round brass compact with blue hued geometric colored design on lid that is covered with plastic (probably to protect the design).
Compact has some expected wear to the blue geometric design on the lid, my camera has a high magnification, so I think the photos look worse than when you look with your eye
Plastic covering the compact is in very good condition
Tiny floral and leaf design decorating the sides of the compact.  See photo 9.
Interior mirror has a number of dark age spots, but mirror is adhered well in the compact.  You can still see an image in the mirror but it is slightly blurry (photo 3 & 4)
There is no indication of who made this compact
The powder puff has been washed and is clean although it has a hole in the red silk and is not very smooth.  Underside is fine.  See photos 5 & 6
There is a cloth powder sifter that does not appear to have been used
.Compact opens and shuts easily and has a good snap
Compact is over 2.75 inches round
