Since ancient times one of the most important articles of Uzbek Traditional National clothes was a “Chapan” Robe. The “Chapan” has a very special value in tradition and culture of Uzbek people, and in daily life of people as well. It was and still is very popular among Uzbek folk of any age. All Uzbek people wear "Chapans" on celebrations and grand occasions (birthdays, weddings). There is a great variety of fabrics, patterns and designs of Uzbek “Chapans”. However each article is a unique sample of Uzbek Traditional Clothes.
This item is Uzbek hand embroidered in silk “Chapan” robe. Such designs of “Chapans” used to be very rare and were considered to be the appropriate outwear for the upper classes. The needle workers applied all their skills and vivid imagination while making this item. It takes quite long period of time to make such a beautiful robe. There is a little amount of empty space on the field. The silk patterns consist of rich floral motifs with beautiful blooming bushes, small colourful flowers and leaves which are very typical for Turkish design. The foundation of embroidery is adras fabric. The dress is lined with a pure cotton cloth inside. You need to see this “Chapan” robe in person to appreciate the rich texture of the silk embroidery.
