    Description

Diana Thorne (1895-1963).  Probably the finest canine artist of the twentieth century.  She illustrated (and often authored) a series of children's books dealing with dogs and animal life.  During the 1920's, 1930's, and 1940's she also produced original etchings, mostly published by Kennedy & Company.  In 1944 she issued a series of dog prints in several sizes, in both color and black and white.  Her prints are considered quite unique because of the detail and her remarkable ability to capture the personality of each breed of dog.  This is one of her black and white prints of a Pekingese.  The print is approximately 10 1/2" x 13 1/2" in size, and mounted to a heavy backing with an overall size of 12" x 16".  My scanner "trims" most of the mount and a small part of the print, but the print is complete and ready to frame.
