    Commonly referred to by their place of production, Idar Oberstein Beads carry to this day a reputation for quality craftsmanship. Idar Oberstein in West Germany rose to prominence during the early 19th century as a significant site for stone-cutting and bead-making. Skilled craftsman cut and polished stones imported from Brazil and other places to produce distinctive designs for trade in West Africa and other places. These beads have been highly sought after due to their unique shape and colors and are coveted by collectors and bead connoisseurs alike. This carnelian strand measures approximately 26" in length and consists of a unique assembly of beads. Several beads are chipped or broken due to age, but overall these beads are in exceptionally good condition.
